License Overview
A plain-English summary of how Abiat is licensed and what that means for you.
Free to download and use
Abiat is free to download and use for any purpose — personal, professional, or commercial. You don't need a payment method to get started.
No account required
Downloading and using Abiat does not require creating an Abiat account. You sign in with your existing Google account directly — no middleman.
Your data stays on your device
Abiat fetches email and calendar data from Google and caches it locally. Your messages never pass through Abiat's servers. Your Google tokens live in your OS keychain.
Your content is yours
Abiat does not claim any rights to your emails or calendar events. We only read and display what you already own in your Google account.
License
Abiat grants you a free, non-exclusive, worldwide license to download and use the application on any number of devices you own or control. This license covers personal use, professional use, and commercial use — at no cost to get started.
You may use Abiat to manage email and calendar for yourself, your team, or your clients. The only things you may not do are redistribute or resell the application itself, reverse engineer it, or use it to build a competing product. The full terms are in Section 2 of the Terms of Service.
Your data
Abiat is built local-first. Here is exactly what happens to your data:
- Email & calendar content is fetched directly from Google's servers using the Gmail API and Google Calendar API, then stored in a local SQLite database on your device. It is never uploaded to or routed through Abiat's servers.
- Google access tokens are stored in your operating system's native credential store — macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager, or the equivalent on Linux. Abiat never stores your password.
-
Anonymous usage events from both the app
(e.g.
app_started,compose_opened) and this website (e.g. page views, download clicks) are sent to Aptabase to help us improve the product. No email content, search queries, or personal information is ever included. See our Privacy Policy for the full list.
For full details see Section 3 of the Terms of Service.
Your content
You retain full ownership of all content in your Google account — your emails, drafts, attachments, and calendar events. Abiat reads and displays that content on your behalf but claims no rights to it whatsoever.
Abiat does not index, analyse, or transmit your content to any party other than Google's own APIs. Uninstalling the app removes the local cache; your data remains intact in your Google account.
Open source components
Abiat is built on open source software. Key components include:
Each component is governed by its own license, which takes precedence over these terms for that component. The full list of dependencies and their licenses is available in the Abiat source repository.
By using Abiat you agree to our Terms
Downloading and using Abiat means you accept the Terms of Service. Please read them — they cover licensing, acceptable use, data handling, disclaimers, and governing law (Sweden).
